I took a bit of a hiatus during the holidays to regroup and focus on my self, my work, and my family — but I am back with more content than ever. I had lots of time to think and explore new things that I’ve seen out on the market and want to share with people. But for starters I want to share some things I’ve had in my archives, I’d put this one together a few months ago when I was exploring more natural and textural decor. The focus in this guide was a lot about unique forms and materials and gives me a primeval, but also well traveled feel.
- Framed Textile: I love framed textiles or objects, my first exposure to the concept of framing a textile as art was when I saw the company I work for frame an Hermes scarf to hang above an entry console table, but now you see more and more objects framed as art. I particularly love the idea of framing an oversized Suzani or other style of tapestry or a mini rug — similar to this one pictured.
- Pendant Light: These are a knock off of a more expensive light and while I don’t want to condone the purchase of knock off items — I want to offer accessibility for some things, especially for something that feels very trendy, and these were too perfect for the theme to pass up. They remind me of dino eggs.
- Woven Basket: I don’t have a link for this one but here are several similar — I like baskets to coral items or store blankets.
- Moroccan Style Pillow: This is what is pictured but check out some similar pillows with embroidery.
- Round Wall Hooks: I recently installed these in black in a client’s home, and disclaimer they are large, but I like that they act as a sculptural object. I would pair them with think Turkish style towels though to get the full affect of seeing the hook while in use.
- Dotted Rug: This rug is stylistically similar to the one I have in my own living room, which to be completely honest I am not in love with, but I think that is because it isn’t executed in as interesting a way as this one which feature the mixed media of a flatweave border with a deeper center pile.
- Wooden Serving Board: I think everyone needs at least one large wood serving board in their life, bonus points for this one looking like it has a nice smooth surface that is easy to wipe down while still looking interesting.
- Handled Colander: I love that this colander is pretty enough to display on open shelving in your kitchen, because things can be pretty and functional!
- Black Footed Bowl: This cutie, little baby bowl is called the salt and pepper bowl and is the perfect pinch pot size for spices.
- Terracotta Lamp: The particular lamp pictured was from Rejuvenation but sadly no longer available, but similar can be found at the link.
- St. Frank Tray: St. Frank has some really cool tribal feel items including this incredible cloth wrapped tray.
- Catchall Dish: This marble dish is perfect for throwing on a table as a catchall for whatever your heart desires, but also looks fine empty.
- Organic Side Table: Urban Outfitters has some sneakily cool decor and furniture, I think you have to be a little careful with the quality given their generally affordable prices but read the reviews and return policy carefully and you should be golden.
- Boucle Chair: Not to be crass, but I’m a slut for boucle, I don’t even care that boucle and shearling are a bit overdone right now, I will never not (okay well maybe not never) be down for boucle.
- Black 4-Legged Stool: I love a small little stool because it is so versatile. Tiny display stand? Check. Footstool? Check. Place to put your wine while you’re relaxing in the bath? Check. They are lightweight enough to be moved around easily and also small enough to easily tuck into a myriad of places.
