Trying to channel my inner bread-baker existing in a cottage in the Irish countryside with this one, but disclaimer I’ve never really made bread nor have I ever been to Ireland.
- Butter Bell (Weston Table, $126): This old style of butter keeping keeps your butter soft and spreadable simply fill the bell with a stick of butter and invert it into a water filled chamber (to protect the butter). I have never used a butter keeper like this before but am fascinated by the ability to keep butter soft and fresh without any additives.
- Capucine Bowl: I think this French stoneware bowl is too freaking cute, they come in various sizes but can be hard to track down. Search Poterie Renault to find the one pictured.
- Honey Pot (Crate & Barrel, $11): How cute is this beehive shaped honey pot? I like drizzling honey over a bowl of ricotta with lemon and this handy jar keeps it within easy reach.
- Utensil Crock (Food 52): I think having utensils within easy reach is essential for any home cook. Therefore, I am constantly on the search for a new utensil crock, I desperately want to find a unique pottery piece to replace my current Target utensil crock. I scour vintage stores near me every time I am at one for the piece that is the right size with a wide enough top to hold all my spatulas and spoons.
- Dutch Oven (Smithey, $200): Having a dutch oven at your disposal is absolutely essential in my opinion, I have a larger one that I use when making chili or soup, and would start with one that holds 5 quarts if you have just one. This smaller 3.5 Q dutch oven though is perfect for people tight on space or that want a dutch oven for making dinners for 2-4 people.
- Proofing Basket (Food 52, $42): Proofing bowls help bread maintain a uniform shape during their second proof, this one shown will get you a perfect round boule, so get kneading.
- Mixing Bowls (Uncommon Goods, $140): This set of 3 pottery mixing bowls I think are so unique and pretty, they also look great corralling produce on the counter.
- Marble Salt Cellar (Lulu & Gerogia, $41): This lidded salt cellar is perfect for keeping in your kitchen filled with Kosher salt. Keep within easy reach of your stove to add pinches as you are cooking.
- Salt Cellar w/ Spoon (Bergdorf Goodman, $139): This precious salt cellar from MATCH pewter comes with a sweet little spoon for gently dusting dishes. I would keep this one on my table filled with perfectly crunchy sea salt (Maldon’s is my preferred brand).
- Mushroom Casserole Dish (Anthropologie): Having some casserole dishes at the ready is essential in my book, while this one might not be the most practical from a storage standpoint, boy is it cute.
- Garlic Keeper (Food 52, $64): Keep your garlic fresher longer and contain that flakey skin by keeping it on the counter or in the cupboard with this breathable keeper designed specifically for this use.
- Cheese Grotto ($85): I have written about these before in my “Cheese Lovers Gift Guide” this smaller size is perfect for the fledging cheese connoisseur.
- Vegetable Peeler: My vegetable peeler is one of my most used tools in my kitchen (along with my micro plane for zesting). Having a good peeler is essential for prepping root vegetables.
- Torchons: I read an article once about the wonders of the French torchon or kitchen towel, apparently vintage is the best way to find these today if you can’t scout out antique stores in France, so I took to Etsy to grab a link.
