If you are the type to go all out with your home decor (think color, pattern, and texture) you may be what we in the design world call a maximalist. The combination of maximalism energy with traditional elements inspired this guide. See below for some pieces to spice up your space:
- Tortoise Mirror: This is one of the most fabulous mirrors I have ever seen, it has a wild shape, gilding, and tortoise print. I am sold!
- Green Glasses: These classic goblets in the sage green color, a staple color in southern decor, are a step up from clear glass.
- Cocktail Napkins: An essential to any entertainer, these cocktail napkins feature embroidered miniatures of popular cocktails.
- Garden Stool: I love, love, love a garden stool look for one in your local antique store or take a shortcut and check out some new options online.
- Lacquered Tray: The high gloss finish and wavy edge border make this tray bold but the Bordeaux color keeps it grounded. Check the size before ordering though to make sure your expectations are met, the small size is little.
- Wicker Vase: This accent is a dupe for something more expensive and it couldn’t be more exquisite. Any southern home needs a dose of wicker and this is the perfect way to introduce it in a not-too-much way.
- Sculptural Lamp: All modern, this lamp is a stray from something you would find in a traditional home, but paired with classic pieces it adds interest and makes a statement.
- Malachite Waste Basket: I used to always think of wastebaskets as something to hide but in cases where you can’t it is best to go with something beautiful. I love popping a fun wastebasket in a powder room or office.
- Greek Key Pillow: A luxurious velvet makes this pillow modern while the greek key pattern keeps it classic.
- Tiger Stool: This baroque stool is incredible on its own but by adding a modern tiger print fabric to the seat the stool becomes striking and unexpected.
- Striped Catchall: I love this set of Murano glass catchalls and they are the perfect styling item to add to any surface.
- Pleated Lampshade: If you already have a simple lamp base, think about updating it with a printed pleated shade. This tribal print shade bumps the style of (almost) any lamp up a notch, keep the lamp base simple though to let the shade really shine.
