This gift guide is for your pet parent friend, and while the color scheme for these items is more feminine, almost all of these products come in different colors.
- Donut Dog Bed: This bed is loved by both my dog and my parents’ dogs who love to sneak into it when I visit. The high sides create a sense of security and support a dog that loves to curl up.
- Harness Walk Kit: This is the harness and leash that I use for Luna, she had a problem with chewing on her leash when I used a nylon one and the rubberized material of the Wild One leash prevents this (she hasn’t even tried). I also love all the colors it come in and they release limited edition colors annually. I love this moonstone color and while I feel like they do get a little grubby after a year of wear I keep this on my dog at almost all times so it gets a lot of use.
- Snuffle Puzzle Mat: This cute snuffle mat acts as a puzzle for a dog where you can hide your pup’s food in and they forage for it. Not only does it slow down them eating but it keeps their mind active.
- Feeder Mat: This is great for any dog that is a messy eater or tends to splash their water, it protects your floors and easy to lift up and clean.
- Snuffle Nest: Same idea as the snuffle mat but in a more compact version. It’s also machine washable so easy to keep clean.
- Tilted Food Bowl: These tilted food bowls help relive neck pressure on dogs by making the food more accessible. They also have a removable stainless steel interior for easy cleaning.
- Crate Lick Stick: This crate lick can be filled with a treat (peanut butter, yogurt that you freeze, etc.) and then fitted onto the side of a wire crate to entertain your pet while in their crate and easy their anxieties. I’ve been meaning to try this for Luna as she is not a huge fan of her crate.
- Lick Mat: I have a less attractive version of this but it’s incredible and stupidly simple. It is a similar concept to the crate lick stick but it’s just a mat that sits on the floor and can be filled with peanut butter, yogurt, pureed vegetables and more. It’s food grade silicone meaning it won’t slide around and I have stuck mine in the dishwasher (no heat dry cycle) and it cleans up well.
- Unicorn Pajamas: If your dog puts up with being clothed, these are adorable. Personally, I think pajamas on a dog aren’t only the cutest thing but it also can keep them warm in colder months an, if your dog sheds can help contain some of this. Disclaimer: I do not recommend clothing dogs in hot climates or warmer months.
- Heartbeat Dog: This heartbeat puppy comes with an insert that when pressed gives off a steady heartbeat rhythm that is supposed to mimic the comfort of being with a mother or littermates for a puppy that has just been brought home. Luna was indifferent to it but I know of other people’s dogs that absolutely loved it.
- Slow Feeder Bowl: I use a slow feeder bowl because I had trouble with my dog eating way too fast and making herself sick. While she still eats incredibly quickly (which is why I am thinking about trying a snuffle mat) it has slowed her down enough to no longer make her ill. I think these may also work better on larger dogs because it is harder for them to stick their faces between the obstacles than it is for my shih-tzu.
- Unicorn Towel: I have this towel for after Luna’s bath time and it is adorable. The little hood is both cute and functional as it makes it easier to dry her head and the whole towel is the right size for wrapping around her without being cumbersome.
- Plush Egg Nog Toy: I had to include at least one plush toy on here for all those dogs that love to play fetch indoors. Zippypaws makes some pretty cute ones and this egg nog one is but fun and seasonally appropriate.
- Benebone Wishbone: Shaped to be easy for a dog to wedge between their paws, the Benebone seems to be a favorite amongst dogs. Luna loves hers and it doesn’t wear down easily like other bones so it has lasted a long time.
- Car Seat: Car seats are a must for dog safety (and comfort) if you plan on bringing your small dog in the car with you often. When I first got Luna she came to work with me most days, meaning she spent a lot of time in the car going to and from the office and also on slightly longer rides to visit my parents. While she spends less time in the car these days, her car seat got a lot of use back in the day. This isn’t the exact one I had but I like that it looks more comfortable. It also has a side pocket for storage and strap to attach to your dogs collar or harness.
- Flat Dog Bed: I have bought multiple of these because they get so much use in my house. I like that they are cozy and since they are flat they are super easy to transport and also make a great crate mat. It can go right in the wash and isn’t so precious that I worry about it getting messed up.
- Puzzle Toy: This is what Luna is getting for Christmas. I have trouble getting her to slow down when eating and also with wearing her out through some good old fashioned play time. This combines the two or can be used with treats as a way to supplement meals and entertain your dog and keep their brain sharp.
- Wine Bottle Toy: This was one of the first toys I bought for Luna and when it came in it was about the size of her when she was a puppy, because I didn’t realize it was water bottled size. The toy has a plastic water bottle inside with a special squeaky cap that Luna loved. Even when the bottle was crushed and removed, Luna still liked to drag around the soft cover like a security blanket.
